Laboratory of Ecology and Conservation (LAEC)

I hold a degree in Animal Science from UNESP (1988), a master's degree in Ecology from UNICAMP (1992), and a PhD in Ecology from the University of Cambridge, England (1998). Since 2011, I have been a member of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto, USP, where I coordinate the Laboratory of Ecology and Conservation (LAEC). I am accredited as a full advisor in the "Comparative Biology" program (area: Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation) at FFCLRP/USP and the "Applied Ecology" program at ESALQ/USP (Piracicaba), and as a collaborator in the "Ecology, Evolution and Biodiversity" program at UNESP, Rio Claro. My research area of greatest interest is applied ecology to conservation, particularly involving Neotropical mammal species. I am also a member of the IUCN's Anteater, Sloth, and Armadillo Specialist Group and the editorial board of two international journals, "Tropical Conservation Science" and "Land." I serve as an advisor for FAPESP, CNPq, FUNBIO, and several national and international journals. I was a DCR/CNPq fellow at the Mello Leitão Museum (now INMA - National Institute of the Atlantic Forest) between 1999 and 2001; a professor in the postgraduate program in Vertebrate Zoology and in the Biological Sciences course at PUC-Minas in Belo Horizonte between 2001 and 2011; and editor of the Bulletin of the Mello Leitão Biology Museum between 2001 and 2006. Since 2006, I have been a productivity fellow at CNPq (level 1D since 2017).

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas - PUC-Campinas (2007), with a doctorate in the Inter-unit Graduate Program in Applied Ecology from the "Luiz de Queiroz" Higher School of Agriculture - CENA/ESALQ/USP (2018). Associate researcher and vice-president of the Pró-Carnívoros Institute, collaborating researcher at the National Center for Research and Conservation of Carnivorous Mammals (ICMBio/CENAP), and postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Ecology and Conservation (LAEC) on the Ribeirão Preto campus of the University of São Paulo (FFCLRP/USP). He conducts research in trophic, community and functional ecology, and stable isotope analysis, using mammals as a biological model.

Biologist and researcher specializing in mammal ecology, landscape ecology, and biodiversity conservation in agricultural landscapes. Her research focuses on assessing the environmental risk of pesticides to wildlife, investigating how changes in land use and land cover influence the exposure of non-target organisms to contaminants (metals and pesticides) and their potential ecological impacts. She integrates approaches from spatial ecology, functional diversity, ecological modeling, and geographic information systems (GIS) in the development of biomonitoring tools and spatial risk assessment applied to conservation.

I am a researcher seeking to understand how landscape ecology and anthropogenic impacts influence the diversity, occupancy, and abundance of medium and large mammals, especially in Conservation Units and Protected Areas. I began my academic career investigating the spatial and climatic patterns of wildlife roadkill and, today, I seek to understand how linear developments affect wildlife populations. I also contribute to projects of the Cerrado Mammal Conservation Program. My inspiration is a 5-year-old girl. I am passionate about nature, people, and a certified optimist!

Holds a Bachelor's and Licentiate degree in Biological Sciences from FFCLRP/USP. Currently, she is a Master's student in the Postgraduate Program in Comparative Biology, where she conducts her Master's research at LAEC. Her Master's project investigates the effects of unpaved roads on medium and large terrestrial mammals in agricultural landscapes of the Cerrado, part of which was developed as a visiting researcher at ce3c (Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes), at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She works with themes such as landscape ecology, habitat modeling and use, population and community ecology, medium and large mammal fauna, and biodiversity conservation.

A biologist with a master's degree in Ecology, she is currently a doctoral candidate in the Comparative Biology Graduate Program at FCLRP/USP. She has experience in capturing, monitoring, and researching carnivorous mammals, using techniques such as radio-telemetry and camera traps. She works as a coordinator in conservation actions within the National Action Plan for the Conservation of Wild Canids and collaborates in research for the Cerrado Mammal Conservation Program. Currently, she is developing her doctoral project at LAEC, evaluating the richness and functional diversity of medium and large mammals in restored areas under different stages of ecological succession and within distinct landscape contexts.
